Knife exhibition at Holstebro Museum.
In cooperation with Holstebro Museum we made a knife exhibition in the autumn of 1996 in the Café area of the museum. In this page you can read a little bit about how we did it, the layout of the exhibition and see some pictures from the exhibition itself. We hope this will give you an impression of the exhibition, and that it will inspire others to make similar exhibitions elsewhere. This exhibition optained one of the highest number of visitors, compared to similar exhibitions in the museum.
We arranged the exhibition in close cooperation with the museum staff, but we had great freedom in choosing both the content and the presentation. The exhibition was made in a number of showcases, each containing its own subject. We started in ancient times with the early stone age, and up through history to the present time. The showcases were divided as indicated in the table below.
By dividing the exhibition into themes, and putting each theme in a separate showcase, we optained a nice "flow". During the exhibition some of us made it "alive". It creates a very fine contact with the visitors to sit at a table and work on knives, and there was a big interest for this part as well.
The reasons why we made this exhibition was the challenge to do the job, but also the opportunity to present our wonderful hobby for a big audience.
